The world around us is changing fast. In view of the developments facing us, the leading position of the Netherlands cannot be taken for granted. To retain and strengthen our leading position in logistics, we must continue to focus on innovation and our spirit of entrepreneurship, because that is what we do best. We want to be number one in global logistics. And for this, good logistical accessibility is a major precondition. This is expressed in our vision that in 2030 the Top Corridors will facilitate a smooth, reliable, robust, safe and sustainable transport system that contributes to sustainable economic growth, with satisfied users. This growth should also go hand in hand with the optimum quality of life and living environment along the corridors.
On 22 June 2017, the MIRT report was officially presented to the Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment, Melanie Schultz van Haegen. The MIRT Study shows the results of an investigation into the opportunities and obstacles in optimising the East and Southeast freight transport corridors. This is a joint study of the government, the Port of Rotterdam Authority, the Logistics Top Sector, and the provinces of South Holland, Gelderland, North Brabant and Limburg.
